Meta ads × App Store

Meta ad spend next to
real App Store installs.

Meta tells you what you spent. Apple tells you who downloaded. Ads Manager lines the two up, day by day and country by country, without adding a single line of code to your app.

01

Spend from Meta

Daily spend, impressions and clicks for every campaign and ad, read from the Meta Marketing API with a read-only token.

02

Installs from Apple

First-time downloads per storefront from your App Store Connect sales reports, the same numbers Apple pays you on.

03

One timeline

Both series on one chart, split by the countries each campaign targets, so you see the effect where the ads actually ran.

Why Meta's install numbers aren't enough

Since App Tracking Transparency, most iPhone users opt out of tracking. Meta's reported app installs are modelled and delayed, and they only count people Meta can match. For a small app that number can be off in either direction by a wide margin.

App Store Connect has no such gap. Every first-time download is in your daily sales report, broken down by country. What it can't tell you is which of those downloads came from an ad. Put the two side by side and the picture gets much clearer: when a campaign starts in Canada and Canadian installs double the same week, you don't need a pixel to see it.

How it works

  1. Connect Meta. Paste a token with ads_read. The setup guide checks its permissions and lists the ad accounts it can see.
  2. Connect App Store Connect. Add an API key with the Sales and Reports role. Ads Manager finds your apps and vendor number for you.
  3. Pick a range. Spend, installs, proceeds and lift load in seconds. Published Apple reports never change, so each day is downloaded once and cached.

Light on your rate limit. A full refresh is four requests to Meta, no matter how many campaigns you run.

Questions

Do I need to add the Facebook SDK to my app?

No. Ads Manager reads your Meta Marketing API data and your App Store Connect sales reports. Nothing ships inside your app and you don't need an ATT prompt for it.

Does it work with Instagram ads?

Yes. Instagram placements run through the same Meta ad account, so their spend is included in every campaign.

Can Ads Manager change my campaigns?

Only if you want it to. A read-only token is enough for every report. Autopilot, which proposes budget changes and pauses for you to approve, needs ads_management.

Where are my tokens stored?

On your own device, in your Application Support folder. There is no Ads Manager server and no account to create.
